Max vs. Altimas

Being the owner of a 2000 3.0 V6 Max, I can't help but wonder that the next time I get a new car, I should consider a V6 Altima, since it's got more power than what I currently have and is a larger car. What do you guys think? Am I just being silly to even consider Altima as an replacement possibility or is it actually reasonable?

I'd rather have a 2005 Altima with navi than any other Nissan (including my current max). Throw Infiniti into it and you have a whole different ballgame. G35 and 05 Altima are the only cars I would consider right now, FX35/45, 05 Xterra, MDX, Aviator are the only SUVs I would consider right now.

i think the maxima(02-03) is more of a handsome looking car and the 6 speed is sweet. you'll probably never see an altima pulling 45+ mpg on the highway. but if you're talking strictly new cars i wouldn't go with anything in the nissan lineup right now other than a Z or G35, i'd rather have the '05 Mitsubishi EVo MR for the same price

The only cars out there that will do 45+ mpg are the VW TDI and the hybrids.

Why not an Alty? The new ones are more of a Max than the new max is!

HEY HEY HEY!

Don't bash on those Altimas yet.

Have you seen the new Altima SE-R, soon to be released in Sept.

It gives me, and I know tons of others, the feeling that the Altima IS the new 4DSC. This new Altima is going to have the same VQ35DE engine that the Maxima has with 250+ hp and torque. PLUS it is going to have what all of you love most, a 6th speed.

So stay tune, check the nissan website, and watch out for this car.

Idling doesnt count. Try engaging in a drive gear; bet you wont get 45 mpg.

Do the math, I think you'll find the trip computer is off by a bit. I drive 95% on the highway, 150 mi/day and the best I've gotten was about 32 mpg. I have a thread out there on the mileage topic.

Lay off the crack pipe!

A Chevy Suburban gets 45MPG going downhill with a tailwind, but won't get even close to 45MPG over the course of a tank.

I can see 30MPG (average) on the highway, but 45MPG is absurd. Maybe you mean 45 kilometers per gallon?
