DDE Finally Installed Oo\=/oO (Pics 56k beware)

One of my rings was defective, so I installed 1 side last weekend and the other side this weekend after receiving the replacement. Thanks Umnitza for the great product and the fantastic customer service!

Switch:
I installed mine with a custom switch on the dash. It's keyed to the ignition, drawing power from the auto-mirrors. It can be turned on/off completely independent of any other lights, and turns off automatically when the key is removed.

Connections:
I didn't like any of the connections that came with the kit, so we soldered all of the connections. I have some insulated disconnects that I may put in between the ballasts and the headlights, the next time I have to remove the lights.

Clear Turn signal:
I cut out the Malibu lights, but decided to just leave them open. It matches the high/low beam openings well. Also, the chrome amber 7440 turn signal bulb looks just like the round reflectors in the high/low openings.

Here's some pics:

I've done the High/Fog rewire, but not the Fog rewire yet. So...here's how they look in the daytime with the HIDs/Fogs on:

I took them with a 2 megapixel camera. My friend took some with his 4 megapixel digicam and they look even better...

Triple man where are you eyelids with these? They look awesome. Still debating on whether or not to use the malibu lenses as well.

Looks good. Where did you get that chrome bulb from? I wish I had cleared out my Hid's when we installed the DDE's.

I put my camera right in front of the DDE's and press the shutter button halfway to set the levels. Then back up and stage your picture as desired while continuing to hold the button halfway down.

And good work Triple8Sol!

I'll be getting my own set of eyelids soon. Had to provide them for customers first...lol. They'll be perfect to cover up the top of the DDE where the ring stops, and you see the ugly connectors.

I think the best way to capture any kind of lighting at night (including DDEs) is to use Twilight mode in a camera, or better yet set Aperture priority to F/8 or higher. This should automatically disable the flash, and once you press the shutter button all the way to make a picture, it will take 4 to 8 seconds to capture. So make sure you dont shake the camera, or better yet use a tripod or some stable ground.

cool. I like the matte black look that you did. Your rings look green!? Is that just a camera effect?

Help

Ok, I need help!! I tried to take my headlights out and just couldn't get them out. What else holds the lights in there besides the two bolts on top. Is there another bolt somewhere that I missed? If anyone has photos of what needs to be taken out I would appreciate it very much.

No effect, just the natural lighting and angle I guess. To the naked eye, in the daytime, sometimes they do look a little greenish or bluish. At night they look very white. Just depends I guess. Those bright blue pics above are a camera effect.

My chrome amber 7440 turns and 194 bumper lights were purchased from an ebay seller: cycolite383838

I do have some 921 9LED bulbs on the way from Autolumination (CTLumination on ebay) for the parking lights.

No. I really really like the stock "titanium" color...

Not that I know of. I ordered up a set of eyelids so I should have them fairly soon.

I have a 2002 (not TE). It just looks dark b/c those pics were snapped on a cloudy day. That's why I love the stock color..it looks totally different at times.

I am sooo sad....

I never even considered the Umnitzas before now, but your lights look way cooler than I could ever have imagined.

So why am I sad? My divorce cost me just about everything...

Oh well, live and learn, die and forget it all!

Heh - I don't know about spending all I want, though I *did* buy a 350Z dead pedal today to go along with my HLSD drilled metal. Got the whole thing done today - looks so much better! Only cost about $20 too!
