is your exhuast stock? If so, you have pre-cats in there as well, and there is a good chance you'll still pass, even if your main cat is a bit iffy. As far as how much they run, you can get a decent high-flow cat for $80-100, and a muffler shop could probably put it on relatively cheaply.

Nope. 1hp if you're lucky and even then, that can be attributed to dyno error.

However, while you are at the muffler shop, get them to custom bend you some 2.5" piping from the cat back to the muffler. If you don't take off the stock resonator, you will not really make it any louder, but you should gain like 5hp (give or take 1 or so) from the larger pipe.
Then, when you put on your y-pipe, it can flow more freely.
They should be able to do all of this for like $50 or so.
I did.

So a new pipe and leave the resonator and you get 5hp? Or take off the resonator to get 5hp?

OEM parts from dealers cost have nice markups on them. Thats why. As for the answer to this question you should be able to get a good after market from your local mufflershop for around 100 or so.

Ps. You should read the forum stickies and previous pages you will always find the answers you need cause they are asked 10 times a month.

Good luck
