I need some advice. I am goin tomorrow to check out a 1999 maxima GXE... he's selling it for about $7700 initially. This car is for my brother who needs a car by the end of the summer to take it down to college. This is the first maxima we're looking at... if this doesn't work out, we'll probably get a sentra or altima for him.

Anyways, the car has 85k miles and i'd just liek to know what to look out for. It's superblack.... gxe... and didn't mention any problems. Since i have a good feel for the maxima, it shouldn't be too hard.

From what I hear/read, 99's have issues with the ignition coils and knock sensors? What are the symptoms for the ignition coils? car won't start? just wondering...


yeah, and also, any general tips when checking out a used car? I have access to carfax through a coworker so i'l defiinately run that. I'll see if i can take pics too... if it looks good, I will because my brother would like to see it and he's not back from college yet.
