yet another loud muffler thread, please advise

I have been away from the .org for a while and am now in need of a muffler replacement for my '98 GXE. I know we've covered this issue many times but I cannot find the thread which might be of help.

My car has the stillen y-pipe and the stillen muffler. Few weeks ago someone rearended me and the muffler fell off. Kinda glag cuz I would eventually kicked it off my self. My gosh was that annoying.

I know that people recommend the 5th gen mufflers, but I am having a very hard time locating one. Anyone want to sell me a 5th gen muffler? or provide a link to a retailer? Many people also recommend the Borla Pro XS muffler, any thoughts on this?

What other options are there? I would like the sound level to be as _LOW_ as possible. This means no droning and a nice sound at WOT.

Since the search feature is disabled and yahoo/google searches yield nothing, I am forced to once again bring this up in the forums. I would appreciate it if someone could link me to a post covering this topic.

Thanks again,

Jasmeet

DYNOMAX super turbo seems to be quiet. People like those a lot and you can get them cheap.

Someone is selling me a new muffler for cheap, will a muffler of this dimension work?:
4 1/4" x 8 13/16"

The inlet and outlet are shown to be 2 1/4". If im not mistaken, the stillen y-pipe is 2 1/2" isnt it? In other words this muffler is no good for me?

If you have the money get a frankencar or cattman catback or just muffler. They are both really quiet.

Well I have a stillen y-pipe and the borla pro xs muffler and it has a nice low deep sound. Try the borla you will be happy.
