Clicks when the key is turned on

My starter was replaced at 98K and now I have 110K a year later. Tonight when I tried to start the car the starter or something else just clicked continuously. Not just one click but multiple clicks like a solenoid is bad or something. I tried jumping the car in case it was the battery but that didn't help. I tried beating on the starter too.

This starter hasn't given me any trouble or made any noise since I had replaced it a year ago.

Any ideas?

I guess I need to take it off and have it tested at autozone.

Well, were you jumping it correctly? Sometimes if your not pushing enough watts the battery wont take the charge.

Id get that battery tested or do a swap out first.

Good luck

I wasn't real happy with the van that was jumping me so I plannned on jumping it again. I expected the problem to be the battery when I heard the clicking. I had no indication the battery was failing either though. What a freakin pain.

I went out to my car yesterday and jumped it using my van and it jumped fine. I wasn't real confident with the jump I had received that night anyhow because of the way we had to connect to the Chevy Venture van. Anyhow I drove it home and parked it and tried to start it and it wouldn't start again. I took the battery to Autozone and had them test it. It pulled 12.8 volts until it was put under a load when it dropped to 1 volt instead of somewhere around 10. I replaced my dead Excide battery with a $40 battery.
