Shortening stock shifter
Shortening stock shifter
Just got a '98 SE 5 speed
- First off, is the **** threaded in our cars?
- What is the best way to shorten the length of the shift lever
without resorting to a short shift kit (seems kind of expensive and alot of work)
thnks

yes the **** is threaded in our cars. I'd reccomend shortening it at the top, and then re threading. (Gunna be a big thread) However, im a firm believer in just investing in a sts. Its unbelievable! SHorter shifts that even a cut stock shifter couldnt handle. Take my word and go with B & M!
Check my webpage i shortened my shifter, just take the **** and shift boot off, get a dremel or other cutting tool, and cut as much as you want, i cut almost 3.5" off mine. But i didnt feel like rethreading it so i just popped on an aftermarket shift **** that is secured with screws
how are these "nismo" ones... Are they really nismo, and if they are, should they be good. cause its nismo (our mopar).... or is B/M the best way to go hands down?

And where could i get a B/M for a good price?.... installation hard?

no the nismo ones are not real.
what i did was just leave it in the car use a dremal and just saw the top of the shifter off. i did not re-thread it i just used a news hiuft **** that i like better. everyone who has a stocvk shifter that drives my car loves it.
