Going to 300ZX Brakes ??
I was thinking of going over to 300ZX brakes...including the rotors and calipers...
Any idea what the final cost for everything would be ??
A final list of parts of what I would need ??
Is it all worth it in the end to change over to 300ZX brakes over from the Maxima Brakes ???

If you are a street only driver, IMHO you won't feel a difference unless you use the larger rotors. Using the 300z calipers/rotors will gain you good fade resistance but others that have done this have not noticed a distance shortening (their opinion only). The only thing that gets the noticable braking power up is the use of larger diameter rotors. Even if it means using your stock calipers and the 2004 12.x rotors with Matt's adaptor brackets. That might be a better choice for the street. And I bet that would make a bigger difference in feel and braking distance. You might get the fade resistance but I doubt that comes into play.

I am still trying to decide if the 300ZX upgrade was worth it...... parts you need.... 300ZX calipers/rotors (you have to machine the rotors down 3mm) brake hoses and the hard line for the calipers if thay are not included with the calipers you get.. 300ZX brake pads...... things you may have to deal with .... the bolts that hold the Max calipers fit the Z calipers but....warning they are to long and you need to add a flat washer, to keep them from going thru the calipers fitting or they will destroy the fitting and bolt <don't ask> you will also have to remove the dust shield from the stock brake system...... now the best part the rotors may hit your lower control arms when the wheels are turned... not good..... I had to machine the lip part of the control are off and the rotors don't currently hit but..... I can meassure the clearance with a feeler gauge.... so very tight.... my 2cents is the Z brake upgrade is not worth the effort and money.... if you want big brakes buy a nice kit.... I am keeping the setup for now.... and other than the work the setup cost me less than $100

What about just going with the Z Calipers. I heard that they will fit most all Nissan cars. I'm going to go with some other brand for rotors, but I was wanting to use the Z calipers, what all is needed for this to work, anything special?

It would be best I think like Jeff92se said to get the 300zx calipers and get the 2004 maxima rotors. Currently, someone in the group deal forum is selling a complete kit for $510 plus shipping but this kit comes with the rotors that you have to mill down 3mm. Then you can get the complete Matt Blemco kit which costs $850 which is completely bolt on. To get in the middle of these prices you can buy the 300zx calipers and a set of ceramix Axxis pads for $300 from the person in the group deal forum. Then from Matt you can get the stainless steel lines and caliper relocation brackets for $285 which will let you mount the calipers without any modifications. Lastly, from irotors.com you can get a set of BPI 2004 Maxima Cross Drilled/Slotted rotors for $160. Brings you to a grand total of $745 for a complete BBK which houses 12.6" rotors which is .4" less than the 13" BBK from Wilwood which goes for about $1100. Hope this help you guys in your decision.

now are you all talking about the front brakes only or the rears as well?
I have two frozen calipers in the rear and will probably have to replace the rotors and pads.
Will the 2004 rotors clear the 2001 17" wheels?
Also, I was planning on switching back to 15's in the winter. Is the winter really bad for the OEM 17" or are they designed to withstand winter harshness?
