For some reoson when the car is at idle the rpms keep going up and down alittle up then down.. wtf is that? I never had that before..

Also when coming to a stop at a red light rpms hold at 1.5k then drop to normal idle all the time.

I changed my idle control valve sensor it did not fix the problem what else is left?

 

Clean your throttle body & set the default idle speed a bit lower.

The default idle speed is set by the throttle stop screw. With TPS disconnected, engine up to operating temp your default idle speed should be around 650 RPM's.

 

TB is cleaned did it like 4-5 months ago.

The problem at the red light started after me and a friend cleaned it.

 

Then just reset the idle speed. Warm up your engine and turn it off. Unplug the TPS and start the car. Set the idle speed to 600 RPM's by turning the idle stop screw. Turn the car off, plug TPS back in, restart and go for a ride.

Do it yourself, all you need is a screwdriver and a small box wrench to loosen the lock nut holding the stop screw in place. Should take you no more then 10 minutes to do. Your mechanic, if he's old school, wount want to mess with default settings on a computer controlled car.

 

Thats exactly what he said when I told him to lower my idle last time..

i would say clean ur throttle body i clean mine and it helped alot

 

You need to go pick up a haynes manual. $12 or so at autozone. It is an invaluable tool.

 

I had this problem and then cleaned out my throttle body, but I also took apart my IACV and totally cleaned it out as well. Now my idle is fine.
