Where is my tranny reservoir?

Folks----I think my tranny is gonna go, but I had noticed leaking coming from where the tranny meets the engine for the last few months. A fluid was slowly dripping out. It's no longer dripping and know my tranny whines. I'd like to check my tranny fluid but have f-ing idea where to look or check.

arff,

It's a manual. It all started when I hit a muffler in the middle of the road. Not sure it really played a part it in or not. But after that I started seeing the fluid dripping.

There is no external reservoir... there is a filler plug on the front side of the tranny. Remove it on LEVEL GROUND and reach inside with your finger. If the fluid comes up to the bottom level of the filler hole, then it's full. If it's not at least very close, then it probably needs lubricant. Use a long snake funnel or some kind of siphon/pump to add fluid.

ONLY use GL-4 compatible oil, NOT GL-5. Redline MT-90 and Amsoil's GL-4 gear oils are acceptable, as is Nissan's OEM gear oil. Do NOT use anything else unless it specifically states that it's compatible with brass/soft metal synchros. As a side note, most stores around here do NOT carry GL-4 compatible gear oils, they usually carry Mobil 1 synthetic GL-5 and other brands of GL-5 (Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, Walmart)

Clean it up nice on the outside and look for damage. If you hit something heavy going fast enough...it could punch a hole or crack the housing...and do the above too as spirillis mentioned.
