I Cant Take The Paint Chipping

i think nissan paint is one of the worst jobs they could of possible done, i used to own a 92 ford taurus and drove that car over every single construction site i can find, my paint never chipped untill i drove into a big a*s*s tow truck and even then, it stayed on preatty well. With my 2000 Maxima it seems everytime i drive over streepid road i have a few more chips on my bumper, i was wonder if i go to like autozone and buy that silver paint in cans and color the chips on my bumper will that stand out from the rest of the color. i am in love withe the power and the apperance of this baby but the paint is killing me.

You can get touchup paint from the dealer, or online from Courtesy Nissan www.courtesyparts.com

Touch up paint... Hah, like that does much of anything at all. I counted 40+ chips in my hood last year Compared to the 3 in my 94 Tbird after 8 years

I do agree, the chipping is really starting to make me mad...Im thinking of going to Aamco/Maaco or whatever that place is that does the $250 professional paint job...any thoughts? Is there a better place to go?

don't take it to maaco. you should look for a custom body shop. i have uncountable chips. a local reputable shop quoted me 500 for the hood and bumper. i am going to get it painted, and will put on the 3M clear bra

If you do go for a repaint, make sure you don't put on the same stuff that chipped off. I have no idea why anyone would use "genuine Nissan paint" after watching it flake and chip off for a few years.

dba, by that logic it would cost well over 1000 to do a paint job? Not that silver is bad (color of my car) but I was thinking of changing it to blue or something else because I really dont like silver. If anyone has suggestions as to what color I should get to match the leather interior it would be appreciated...the leather is kind of a silver color.

I feel all your pain
My majestic blue has turned into brushed aluminum and speckeled blue
Try this though;
Go around the area to local tech schools and talk to the instructors in the body shop, around here usually a paint job only costs supplies + 5% and I have seen some really nice jobs come out of my old tech school. It's what I'm gonna do when I get all the body components together.
Just a thought
