So call me an , but I raced my friends 03' Cobra SVT mustang, it was close off the line but then he flew by me and had me for like 10 car lenghts....man that thing is fast, then he let me drive it an OMG....
needless to say I think I need to look at one of these soon, the rear wheel drive alone its such a difference.

or get a stroker kit with NOS for the Max????

 

What is your malfunction? They have 390hp and just about in torque.

 

Yeah, I made the same mistake. Although I didnt know it was a cobra at first. It was debadged and had aftermarket wheels, so I thought it was maybe a GT at best... I soon figured out it had 390 supercharged hp under the hood.

Ouch! Spanked be American muscle. I just have to keep telling myself that mine is more refined and sexy.

 

They actually have 420-425 crank HP. They are underrated (and they have the same TQ rating)...

i understand a max couldnt even beat a gt, as i use to have one, but i never understand how people talk of them like performance machines or rockets. they are nice well price luxury cars with some speed. I unfortunately bought and auto due to the price, but even if it was a stick.... a max is still not a muscle car

 

Um, ur wrong actually. I have a video of a 5.5 gen max (6-speed) with intake beating a new mustang gt (5-speed) with intake and exhaust. Maybe it was bad shifting, but still. It's by one of the ppl on the board. Forget his name tho.

 

13.8's at 100 MPH stock is what the 99+ GT's (5 speeds) do. That's street tires...

No stock setup 6 speed Maxima can touch that...

 

No malfunction, he is a long time friend of mine and we were just having some good ol' fun, I knew I didnt have a chance and I have a "NO FEAR" sticker on my trunk lid !! (NOT!)

I think this one Cobra has more than 390HP because got nice aftermarket exhaust and some smaller pulley for the blower.....
Yes the power difference between my Max and this thing was huge, but what I liked the most was the rear wheel drive, it just feels so much better (dunno maybe the 400ft/lb torque also have something do with it)

Try going against someone who actually knows how to drive

 

Mustangs are very beatable with a 6sp and 3.5. I've beaten Mustang GTs myself. Not by much, though.

 

How can you not know how to drive an auto?

 

Wether the person could drive ot not, there beatable. i have beat plenty of GT's on highway runs, there top end gearing sucks and even light to light racing in my Max. Totally destroyed them in my Twin turbo Z, it was a waist of my gas running them.

On the highway , not to much needed to go fast, just hit the gas and go, and shift the 2 or more gears left (4th, 5th or 6th).

 

i dont get how it could have been close off the line???? our 3.0 Suc* off the line.

 

Well I worded it that way since it's a totally humiliating experience racing one, even if it were between friends. He knows he can beat you, now you both know by how much.

I almost did a boo with one myself long ago but halted as soon as i saw the bumper engravement... (whew.. )

5.5 gen 6 speed vs. a 99+ GT 5 speed is a drivers race. mustang is much easier to launch though.

 

Drivers being equal, the 5.5th Gen will lose by half a second. It's a fact. The 99+ GT 5 speed is faster to 60 MPH and faster to 100 MPH. Matter of fact, it's faster all the way up to 150 MPH, again, drivers being equal. It's also NOT a dog from a roll. I'm not saying they can't be beat, but in my neck of the woods, most of the people racing them at tracks can actually run them to the maximum extent of their abilities...which is greater than our 5.5th Gen Maxima's ability.
