For those of you who have the infamous starting probelm

After i changed my trani (5spd) and starter (96 to a 97) my car would take a little while to turn over. It would crank but not start so i took out my starter, took it apart, cleaned it and regreased it and then my car started fine for about two days then got worse and worse and now wont start. I also just changed my knock sensor, while it wasnt running. i dont understand it, i drove my into the carage fine and now it wont run. A tech at a Nissan dealership said i had a bad ground from my trani bell housing to engine block but that sounds a little --its aluminum anyways. Anywho, now i got cel code ignition signal circuit, i figure i should check the crankshaft positioning sensors, coils, etc.

so i guess i havent come up with any answers but if you guys have, then post, if you havent we should call that hotline, 1-800-nissan1 i think, and complain.

Any help would be appreciated

It probably is the ground. I take it problem started after the tranny change? Others have had it happen after a clutch job. Check that ground wire and make sure the connector on the tranny housing is clean.

does anyone have a picture of where that ground is located? I may have missed it when i did my 5spd swap, 5spd rebuild. I know there is supposed to be a ground on the 5spd tranny but I never connected it, and i dont think i have the wire there anymore....i get codes p1335, p0340
