How much is for the both CV shafts?
How much is for the both CV shafts?
The mechanics told me that both the left and right CV shafts need to be replaced. Estimate cost $410 for parts and labor.
Is that a good price or I'm ripped off?
thank you

If your referring to a CV boot kit? They are about 30 dollars. If your talking bout the front axles those usually run about 69 with core, 130+ without.
Remember most mechanics have to pay for NAPA or CarQuest to deliever yoru parts so they mark it up for their cost and the delievery cost. Usually 250% mark up on the parts.
What I do is find out what parts I need then take the parts to my mechanic and he only charges me labor.

Dude. I'll give you the single best piece of advise. go to www.raxles.com
Unless of course you like headaches or dont plan on doing this yourself. Ask around, I'm pretty sure that many people will agree that raxles.com is a great value. plus the dude that runs that place is super nice. He wont 'shaft' you in any way.(pardon the pun)
btw, i am in no way affiliated with raxles.com, just one of many very satisfied customers

actually the number you list here is quite similar what I got from the shop. The shop is a NAPA filiated and they don't install any parts I bring in. They only install the parts order through them. The manager told me that what he earns is the margin profit of parts the mechanician get paid by labor. So that's policy that no outside parts are allowed.
I checked the CV boots yestoday. It seems that only the right boot is broken.
Can I only change that one while with the same rate?
I am wondering that it might be a cheaper rate to change the both instead of just one.
