AMP Won't Power All of a sudden. Please help... need this ASAP long trip ahead...

I got the following:

pioneer 8500 deck
pioneer speakers all around
kicker l5 1200 watt sub
phoinex digital 1200 watt amp
capacitor
curcuit breaker

Everything is fine and out of nowhere my amp stops working. Now it has a light that is either off, green or red. Green means eveyrthing is good, red is ground cable disconnected or overheat, and off means well off.

Anyway everything is conencted perfectly but my amp wont power, also the compaciitor isint turning on either. I checked everything and dont understand whats going on. I disconnected the ground cable to make sure the amp would go red and it did then when i put it back it went off. Also the amp lights (cosmetic) are dim with everything connected and turned on.

Please help me im completely out of ideas as I virtually reconnected my enitire system. This happened earlier today but after disconnecting and reconnecting it worked however not this time.

P.S. sorry for the long post.

THANKS

P.P.S. Im going on a road trip to florida tomorrow and would greatly appreciate assistance to get this fixed prior to it.

the main fuse at the battery good? awhile back, one end of the fuse somehow came apart and my entire system was dead. the fuse looked ok, but when i took the fuse out, one end just came off.

my problem was somewhat similar

check the main fuse's connection (under the hood) mine was not even making a connection. so i had to buy another fuse connector

also check to make sure there is no paint where your ground points are.

Well i grounded the amp to the back wall of the trunk that sits right against the back seat. As for the fuses im going to check all of them under teh hood and will be back in 15 min...

Good News!

I checked all the fuses and everything was fine. So I went after the curcuit breaker right by the battery. I disconnected it and put the power to the amp straight through.... AND IT WORKS!!!

The curcuit breaker was faulty. Now I never had to reset the breaker before, so will I be fine without one. At least temporarely?

THANKS

If your circuit breaker went bad, that tells me you need something there even more (if it got fried). At least but a quick in line fuse from somewhere like Advance Auto until you get another breaker. My C breaker always reset when the car was turned off and on.

well...by fuse i was refering to the main one on the power cable under the hood, sorry for the confusion

I wouldn't connect anything until you get a working circuit breaker or like Maxima80 suggested and get an in-line fuse.

But the thing is that my curcuit breaker never had to be reset, like it was never overloaded that i had to pop the hood reset it to get the system working. Im just thinking that the current was flowing steady but since its a cheap breaker it just malfunctioned.

cheapness is most likely, but I still wouldn't risk running without a new (better) one or an in-line fuse. When I used a fuse before a circuit breaker, it blew for no reason after using it and working perfectly fine. Just not worth the possibility of that happening while directly connected.
