Battery and Brake dash lights won't go off

Does anyone know what would cause to battery and brake dash lights stay on after the car is started?

The batter is new, and the Ebrake was off.

It did rain today, if that has anything to do with it.

check out the owners manual in the glove box, it says that if the battery light and brake light are on, the charging system (alternator) isn't working

what craig said..

mine are on, but it's a loose sensor wire.. the 4 awg is secure on the alternator, and I can wiggle the wires coming off the alternator and the light flickers on the dash... but if yours is on, then either the alternator isn't working, or you have a wiring problem that you need to get taken care of.

D@MN IT. I noticed the voltage must be low because it took a while for the windows to go up, and my stereo was turning on and off. Must be the altenater.

heh shortly after i got my car i had these lights on at same time, i couldnt think of why they would both be on at same time so i thought it must just be the warning system tripping out, but a few days later i had to replace my alternator so yeah dont be surprised
