ONLY USE NGK. So either the plats or the coppers. The plats will be about $10ea and the coppers are <$2ea. However, the plats last 60k miles while the coppers only last 30K miles. So really it depends on whether you want to spend more or change your plugs more often. Any autoparts store will tell you to get the plats (that's all they list for the max in the computer) so if you decide to go with coppers just ask for NGK bkr5e-11's and don't tell them what it's for.

I just got my NKG platinum for $9 each at the local dealer. I called around (took about 5 mins) and got a quick price range ($11-$17) then went to the lowest one. They were able to take another $2 off per plug.

YOu will end up spending about 3 times the amount of $$ on plats as you will on Coppers. However, they will be less of a pain than the coppers to put in, because you have to do it every 30k miles with coppers and every 60k miles with the plats.

Only use NGK.

I agree stick with the NGK's regardless wether you go with copper, Plat's or Irridium's. I had some Bosch Plat +4's for only 6 months and the car started running bad! I've used these before in other cars with great results. I don't mind chaning plugs frequently so I went with the NGK coppers and running smoooooth again! Take it from experience and stick with NGK's.

Are any advantages of the copper over the platinum other than price? I heard the copper ones give a better spark?

Copper is a better conductor... Silver is actually the best... copper is second. With platinum plugs, the electrodes are coated with platinum so they last longer... hence 60K before changing them...

That is pretty good, phenryiv1. YOu are like the ebay guru. ha ha

I don't know if all the models of maxima are this way, but on the rear 3(right bank, I think) they are quite the pain to do. I would not say that the plats are worth the money at all, but it sure would be worth paying exactly double for the plats, just to not have to take off the throttle cable thingy every 30k miles. This was just kind of a pain for me, but not worth enough for me to go to plats. I will just put in the extra time.
