Scratches, chips and hits, what to do?

While my car was garaged, my parents put tons of stuff on the top, hood and trunk of my max. This resulted in many surface scratches and left the car looking crappy. In addition, countless doors being open on my car have left chips of white and speckles all over. Not to mention, the hood is the same, with chips and paint wearing out. What products do you guys suggest I try on making this stuff less visable? It looks pretty bad, keeping a black max looking sharp is tough. Thanks in advance.

By your own description, I am thinking that the solution is not going to be in a bottle at Target. Sometimes a body shop is necessary to get good results. Maybe you can work a good deal.

Yea, I was going to head down there today.. The thing is though I don't want to spend $500 to get it fixed up. I'm a good bargainer, maybe I can work something out.

Man...get a new paint job and charge your parents. That sounds ridiculous that they treated your car that way. Wonder if that's the way they treat their own cars.

Well, I went to the body shop. The guy said it wouldn't be worth doing for the money. The car has been through a lot of driving and my dad didn't treat the paint very well, not to mention the garage. It looks hot from far away, but once you get closer, no. I can look bad, but I'm still fast.

Wish they would pay for it! I have yelled at them for it, but they do not care. And my dad does not treat his cars very well either, he put $5000 damage on his company taurus and just backed into a dump truck with his company '01 intrigue and messed up the trunk, just this year.

The guy at the body shop told me I should get some of the "black wax stuff" that makes it look darker and clean up the paint job a lot. He said with a few hours I could make it a lot better. Anyone know the stuff he is talking about? He said autozone would have it.

Yea, it might be, but I'd really like to get it even a little better. I will go check that stuff out. Thanks.

poor max, I'm beginning to see the complaints of black on my own. a rock chip, light long scratches from washing, other little marks. Please let us know what you find that does or does not work.

Still the best color for my gen though. Just gotta maintain it more. Helps me appreciate it though. I figured black would require more work getting me to take better care of it.
