I Heart The Junkyard...

Well, I'm back from family vacation and was it fun...
Went to the STL where my dad lives and where there's a sweet U-Wrench-It "you pull it" type of junkyard, got some cupholders, and some saab/taurus ones that's I'm gonna sell. I learned some stuff and have got some questions...

1. I saw a GXE in the junkyard, with a heated mirror switch, I don't know if they just swapped one from an SE and whether or not it worked, just saw it...anyone?

2. I learned that there are 2 different SE wheels, I took the 3 that came on my car up to my dads to get sandblasted, and we got one out of the junkyard, except it had a different backspacing/offset. From the face of the rim to where it hits the hud was around 3" instead of my 3 rims that were 2"

3. I got a couple of things, a shift boot, dead pedal, 5 spd dummy switch (for this dumb guy i know who let a vaccuum eat his) nissan and taurus cupholders, some slashguards, got my front bumper painted and 4 se wheels sandblasted, soon to be painted a medium/dark silver.

I'll show you some pictures of the different wheel and the stuff i got in a lil bit when i get the pics!

What? You mean that a U-Wrench-It had a 3rd Gen. I have been to the U-Wrench-It in VA Beach several times this year. Each time, I come up empty: no Maximas. About as close as I can get is a 2nd Gen. No 3rd, 4th or 5th gens to be found. Nonetheless, I was able to get some shared goodies like relays, switches, etc from some Sentras and Altimas. I know that the one day that I don't check the yard will be the day that they will have about 3 or 4 3rd gens out there. Oh well.

I thought all SEs came with rear discs? thats why it seems wierd to me. My dad thought maybe nissan used it for another car, but it came off of a maxima and don't remember it being used on anything else...anyone want some saab cupholders?

Jeeez.. I guess we've got it lucky.. The yards I go to around here have 20-30 3rd gens in them.

As for the different SE wheels, are they 89-90 wheels vs a 91 or a 92-94? they're all slightly different on appearance and machining around the trapezoidal holes, so they may be different on the overall width of the wheel as well. the stock GXE are 15x6, and the SE are 15x6.5 on the 92-94 models..

LOL

Two yards in tulsa had at least 40 of them. and another 50+ 4th Gens.
one had about a dozen 3rd gens and about that many 4th gens.

Yes all SEs had rear discs. However, the Z31 used the same style wheel, and probably had a different offset since is RWD.

wow the most 3rd gens ive ever seen in a junk yard at one time is maybe 6 or 7 and they get stripped pretty fast. the most ironic thing i see is the first thing that goes is the vg auto trannys

they looked the same, but if you removed the centercap, one had a deeper backspacing/offset

i know the Z31 Z's had the same exact style of wheel as the SE's just with Z in the centercap. I don't know about the off set though.

Same here, although I wouldnt say 20-30 3rd gens . I usually only regularly go to two yards but they usually have 'only' 5-10 3rd gens - of course most of them are stipped clean, and if they're not stripped clean, they have useless stuff like the burgandy interior or blue interior and star trek wheel and a VG in the engine bay

Of course I did hit the jackpot with the VE 5spd find not too long ago

hmm. i've never heard of this. could offsets differ, then, from VG to VE SE models?
