Window regulator broke...

On Friday, I rolled down the passenger side windows and when i tried to roll it back up all of a sudden the window wouldnt roll up, I think the window regulator broke. When I tried to roll the window up, I hear the motor for a couple seconds, I heard a tick tick noise but it was not pulling up the window, and a couple minutes later when I tried to roll the window up it wouldnt roll up and I didnt hear the motor running...so, I'm gonna call Nissan and schedule for an appointment. Does anyone know how much the motor and window regulator are? How long does one usually last? How hard is it to repair it myself?

Replace the regulator yourself -- it is covered in detail the FAQs, just look on Craig Brace's site. It is easy and there are step-by-step instructions with pics and everything (great work BTW Craig).

Just for kicks, I called my local dealership when mine crapped out. They wanted $280 parts and labor to replace my driver door window regulator, keeping the existing motor.

I ordered a new regulator off of ebay for $60 shipped and did the work in a little over an hour, maybe an hour and a half. It is pretty easy. My rear one took me about 45 minutes, tops, after the experience with the first one. I think there are some guys here that can replace one in about 15 minutes or less.

Oh, and the new ones are allegedly designed to last longer than the originals, so they should last a while.

cool, I was also wondering how much they charged to fix it for you, i like to know how much im saving

yeah do it yourself, its easy enough for anyone to do, just have the right sized quality screw drivers handy when it comes to getting the motor off the old regulator, those screws are tough and strip easily

You can get those screws off with a pair of vice grips (they are pretty easy with a small nosed one). I stripped one out and did it that way. I still had my old front regulator with screws, so I put a new one in.
