It happens to almost all cars. Trunks are solid, but they aren't designed to accomodate two 10" subs. Anyone have maybe ONE 10" with no rattles?

Dynomat everything also get that dynomat license plate. It will help a bit but not totally. There is a shop by me that does amazing work. They are really expensive but they get the job done and they do it right. I brought my old VW there and they fixed everything, the trunk didnt rattle anymore. The car counting subs had 14 speakers. She sounded incredable though.

Your trunks gonna rattle if you have the bass up. I have 2 MTX 12's and I dont even turn them up loud enough to rattle the trunk. I just got them to help out the sound cuz I dont have factory BOSE .

keep the bass low. there's always going to be the rattling if you bump.

You could stop it by making sure there isn't anything that can rattle anymore. I have 2 15 inch Treo subs in the trunk, and nothing rattle's anymore. I put some soft material behind the license plate to stop it from rattling, the 2 beams in the trunk kept on rattling so I wrapped them in soft material to, and that was about it, doesn't rattle anymore. In the future I'm planning to remove the beams and put in powerlifts.

Anybody knows what the hell those beams are for anyway? I also had them in my former 1989 Mazda 626 2.0i-16v GT Sedan.

theyre tension rods. they make the trunk lid easy to lift.

Do you know where you have the rear deck speakers?? well what i had done was cut straight through and kept the 2 speakers there but had one mesh grill straight across. This was in my old 98 Max. It did reduce the rattling in the truck and increased the bass in the car. I lost the Bose mesh but hey its all good.

I disconected the rear speakers to improve my sound staging, and I will remove them pretty soon from now. I will reupholster the rear deck so the holes will be invissible, yet let through my bass.

If it's only to lift it easier I will remove those beams and place powerlifts instead... The Nissan Primera from my mother has them stock, I can't understand why nissan put such junky cheapa$$ beams in their top model. The hood has powerlifts, so why didn't they do it on the trunk. I will make those powerlifts in such way that when I open the trunk with the button it will open itself slowly, it will cost slightly more power to close the trunk but I guess it would look kickass. The Jaguar S-type from my father has such a system and that inspired me.

I've heard before that you can adjust the trunk latch so that the trunk seals a little tighter, that might help. Try wraping the lift beams in foam pipe insulation too.

I plan on going to Lowe's or Home Depot to see if they have any of that spray foam that expands and spray that into the trunk lid (gotta cover all the holes except one.) hopefully that will work and make the trunk more solid.

it will rattle period. and tis probably more than just your trunk rattling. i know i can hear things rattiling under my car as well as the metal under the bumper cover. i've dynamated and sprayed cans and cans of that expanding foam stuff in my trunk. all it really does is help stop the bass from escaping from the trunk which makes it louder inside the car.

Just imagine those big sheets of thin metal, when you bend and flex them, they make those snapping/singing noises, same thing with our cars. Dynamat can only help so much. Hell, just recently I got a rattling noise coming from my roof somewhere.

Get the JL stealthbox for the 4th gen, very minimal rattle with very nice bass. Dynomat is what you need or some form of sound deadening material...

it does help, but it won't go away all the way. also, be VERY CAREFUL not to get that stuff around the unlocking mechanism inside the trunk lid, that sh*t expands a lot and if it gets around it, your trunk won't open up.

i guess you didn't have the same problem as me because i stopped all the rattles INSIDE my trunk but the part of trunk where the word "MAXIMA" is flexes in and out rapidly with every bass hit, it sounds horrible. Only was to truly stop it is to turn it down.

what i did, which helped a considerable ammount was i took tons of old t-shirts and stuffed the wholes in the trunk lid with them. it made the trunk heavier, and reduced some of the rattles. i know its ghetto but it worked haha, next im gonna dynamat over those, hopefully that will get rid of the rest of the rattling

Heh- you aint missin' much- I ripped that sucker outa my max- MB Quart/ JL Audio with alpine power- Now THAT's A system. Your system with the added subs probably sounds better than the stock BOSE

^ Here's to JL/MB Quartz! My components up front SCREAM! And the 15/W-6 in the trunk doesn't hurt either!

Dynomatting the backside of the license plate helped out on one of my previous cars, and I know that stuffing the inside of the seatbelt holder works on 5th gens (just don't restrict the rewind of the seatbelt)

That's exactly what I did when I was running my Rockford T2500 w/ 2 10s. It kept all the bass in the car which honestly was alot.

The inside would be screaming awesome while outside it would rattle ALOT. At one point it knocked my spoiler off on my way home the clips had broken off lol.

I decided to sell my 2 10 for the beautiful 3.5 I got under the hood now . I eventually will get back in the audio game because it sure is pricey...

Super off topic, but I never got why people freak out when an old thread is bumped. Isn't it a good thing that there wasn't a new thread started on the same topic?
