flat tire damages fuel filler tube
Back in April I got a flat tire. Not a big deal, sh-t happens right? Well $227.00 later I get my craptenza replacement tire and I think all is good. (I went with the OEM Craptenza tire since the other 3 still had a good amount of tread left on them and I wanted 4 matching tires.) A few weeks later my SES light comes on and I take the Max into the dealer. After a few hours the tech calls me and tells me the my fuel filler tube (the tube where you pump gas into) is bent and needs to be replaced. After thinking about it for a minute, it makes sense. I ran over some debris (peices of wood) that popped my tire and some of those pieces probably flew up into the wheel well banging up everything. The tech said parts and labor would come out to "around $500.00" Does that price sound right? What are my options? How much does a fuel filler tube cost (it's just a metal tube after all)?
wth....id go look at it yourself, and see what got damadged. Im thinking, you got gas prior to yoru SES light comming on....caused by a loose fuel filler cap. id see if you can see the tube in the wheel well.... Hell if youve gotten gas recently and not seen or smelled any leaks..whats broken about it?
