WTF is wrong w/ my max... or is it just slow?

i took my max to the track for the first time last week. i did nothing but 16.0s & 16.1s the whole time i was there. my best run was 16.047 w/ a .741 reaction time. i was a little dissapointed with the my times... i was hoping to hit high 15s. my max is auto. i also have a cattman y-pipe & PR CAI... wha'ts the deal?? or are those times normal?

I'm running a Cattman Y-pipe and B-pipe and Frankencar intake and my best was 15.905. I was expecting better, but I did no weight reduction. Reaction time won't affect your ET, mine was .223. My 60' was 2.451. Need to get that down. Temp was 78.

2.474 is decent. A little on the high side for your mods. If you get it down to 2.1x or even 2.2 you will easily be into the high 15s. Also, what elevation were you running at?

Does cooler weather make that much of a difference?

What effect does it have on rolling start and highway acceleration performance, eg 90 vs say 50 degrees. What about even colder, eg. freezing?

i see. im not too sure on the elevation (it was in central fl). also... the temp was probably in the high 80s & extremely humid. do you think that might have a significant effect??

According to what I have been told, the weather has slowed you down at least .2 - .3s, so next time go in cooler weather to see what your car can really run and you'll get high 15s . But your 60' doesn't look right, I'm bone stock and my 60' was better at ~90'F. You might be having traction issues, or did you brake torque?

yes i was brake torqueing around 17-1800rpm. im not too sure about traction at the track, i don't have much to compare it too. i heard a lot of drivers complaining about the traction on the track too... i thought they were just bs'ing at first but maybe they were right. i need to try another track on a colder day & see what the difference is

That explains it pretty much, really what I've been told to do is brake torque until I hit about 1200rpm. This is a bit above idle (~700rpm) and enough to give you a start kick, anything above that is redundant and too much on your tranny. It can actually slow you down by causing you to spin. Did your tires chirp a lot? If they did, then you just need to go easier... when I ran I barely brake torqued, I just released the brake when I got the green light and then floored it. I need to work on that too, people do it at the second yellow light...

And traction is a bigger issue for those who have plenty of torque at launch, but I don't think our cars are affected as much.

Also, what was your tire pressure and did you try dropping the fronts/raising the rears? I have found for myself that 32/32 is my best bet and going 25/40 slowed me down as much as .2s
