Help!! did Something DUMB!!Soaked Air Filter
Hey guys I was bored yesterday and decided to spray out my air filter to clean it (dont ask me why because I dont even know) and this morning my car wouldnt accelerate and stalled out. I pulled out the filter and dried off all the bubbles and water, replaced the filter and it goes now, but the service engine light is still on. Will the water dry out and turn off the SES light or how do I reset it? any help would be awesome thanks guys.
Do you guys really think the MAF blew? What would that run me, I am thinking that the SES is just still on cause it needs to dry out more, but what do I know. IF this is the case, can I play it off like its the cars error and just have the dealership fix it since its only been a month, or could they tell what happened?
if it was blown, your car would be bogging and pretty much dying to stall. your car would be limping. if you don't experience this, consider yourself lucky... over the next few days..just monitor your car and make sure its not acting weird in any ways,
Nice thanks man, feel better now. Thing is the ses light is still on so should I just reset it if the car acts fine? Thanks for the quick help guys ive only had the max for a month or so im still new to the scene but I deserve the punches I wasnt thinking.

You didn't blow your MAF sensor, just get a new filter and got to Autozone or your local dealeship to have your ecu reset. I did the same a while back, no harm done.
light is gonna be on for a while i think ~50 restarts of your car or something like that... give it a week or two.. or you can go to autozone and have it reset and see if your car is actually pulling any codes to see if there are serious issues. otherwise, your car is fine...dont do it again
just change the filter to a K&N and when you clean it PLEASE let it dry first before applying the oil. Also let it dry just a little bit before installing it or it will suck everything. Just be careful.......
Whats with all this K&N talk? Are they really that much better for the car than a regular filter? I was stuck this morning and was forced to just get a regular one, do they sell k & n's at napa or auto zone? If you guys have any cheap sources for them, throw them out there and tell me the differences too. Thanks!
K&N filters really don't do much, although I've compared mine against a stock (brand new) paper OEM Nissan filter and I thought the K&N gave me a smoother top end... but that was all butt-dyno. Either way, I use a K&N all the time with my stock intake (duct-taped the scoop so it stays on and sealed properly).
I have used K&N for years and find that they are cost effective if you maintain your car for a long period of time. There is no "cheep" place to get them that I know of as they are generally a fair trade type of item. Usually any auto discount house will carry them along with a separate cleaning kit ( I use the cleaning kit once per year ).
Your CES light will most likely stay of through several start, drive, stop cycles but should turn off after a week or so.
You know, if you actually sit down and read the owners manual from cover to cover you will learn more that 80% of everything that you need to know to maintain your vehicle as long as you're not street racing (in which case all bets are off).

Some things you don't say outloud, let alone write...
Ya sorry I know all you clowns are sooo honest. Ask yourself this one question HONESTLY. Would you rather pay for something or get it free under warranty?? Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, use your head bro.

nonetheless, you made a mistake, it wasn't serious... just be more careful next time... why in the world you would have wet your air filter (if it isn't a k&n) and then put it back in is beyond me...
dunno, i think of it as the air filter purifying the air before going into the engine... kinda like your nose hairs purifying the air before it enters your lungs. can't very well breathe if your head is in the toilet (so to speak).
