Couple of questions about tuning and engine swap pricing...

I keep bouncing around this subject. On one hand, I don't want to throw together a bunch of mods on my Max because the gains they give me feel like they'll be minimal. I know some have had a full-on engine/transmission swap done to their 00/01s: how much did that cost? Ever since Nissan introduced the VQ35 in the 02 Max, I felt so cheated because it happened like 2 months after we got our 01 SE. But anyways, what would a procedure like that cost? And does anybody know if MaximumTuning would that?

My second question is if it's possible to tune an auto 01 SE to run more like a manual 01 SE? The manuals are noticeably quicker compared to the autos, so I was wondering if there was a way you could tune the auto drivetrain to shift more like a manual. Is it possible?

Bah, don't want an 02 for a few reasons:

1) Just bought out the 01 from lease.
2) Love my 01 too much to let it go.
3) HIDs. I don't want a**holes trying to f**k with my car.

I thought I read a full on swap would cost about $2500-3000 including labor, which would be about the same as going ***** out with mods. And TCing or SCing is too risky and involves too much maintence B.S. I don't want to deal with that.

If you want better performance for your auto, your going to need a better torque converter as well as a good VB mod. Once you get into that much money, your almost better getting a SC. Keep your eyes out for a good deal on a wrecked manual for the swap.
