strange noise, car stalled. need your advice
It all started yesterday. I've been driving with my A/C on for last couple of days, since it's pretty hot here. Yesterday, I was pushing the car little more than usual. When I got home I parked and 20 min later I needed to go somewhere. I tried to start the car and there was that NASTY metal sound, like a piece of metal just hit a shield or something. Then, I tried to start it again and it did start.
Today, I was driving to school. When I was making a turn, I put it in 2nd, was letting off the clutch gently, giving it some gas but the car just stalled. It started up fine after that and I was able to continue driving (my luck there was no one in the other lane since power stearing disappeared). There are two codes throwing, one being misfire and the other is 0420 that needs to get flashed. There is one thing that is different now. When I turn A/C on there is a loud CLICK, idle becomes very rough and it starts shaking. There is a soft consistent sound coming from the engine bay, mainly from the part where all the belts are. As of now I have no idea what it is or can be. I just hope nothing serious and something a DIY guy like me could take care off.
Please post any comments, suggestions, guesses.

Watch the belt drive when you have a buddy turn on the A/C, see if you see any accessories (alternator, ac compressor) locking up or binding.
It's time for 6 new coils, anyway, if you haven't had them all replaced yet. Possible the coils are causing the stallout condition.
The noise? The shaking? I suspect something is locking up or binding, loading up the engine. The metal noise could also be starter-related.

Sounds like a AC idler pulley ! Mine flingged off on me at around 5800RPM in 3rd gear when I was passing someone on I88 here in Chicago. All the sudden I look over at this Ford Van that I'm passing and I can hear ting ting ting..pop... and it stopped. I thought to myself ahhh what a POS Ford... I look down at my gauges and the battery light and brake light are on. Whoops the alternator pulley sheared off or the A/C/Alternator belt that I installed about 6 months ago when I put in my UDP, Fidanza and a ACT and rebuild my tranny. I only had about 5 miles to work so I turned off the radio and took it EZ on the car till I got to work. I poped my smashed up and duct taped CF hood ( to all the Chicago guys that see me on the highway everyday I say hello
which was a result of an accident on the same highway 2 weeks ago.... And I noticed the whole bracket for the idler pulley along with the pulley is completly missing !! But the belt is still on- just very loose so the alternator or the AC aint spining. Lucky me we had 3 POS 4th gens on the lot ( sorry they had over 100K miles on each with alot of abuse and damage) so I yanked a adjuster pulley off one and put it on. If I where U... I would check out that adjuster cause mine has been making noise for like hmm 2 months now with the AC and finally it just completly broke off the car. I hope no one got injured with this thing flying off my car.
