Problem: funky smell when A/C is off

i'm getting sort of a cat-pee smell coming out of my vents only when the A/C is off. turn the A/C on and the smell is gone. i know the quick fix is to run the A/C all the time, but i was really wondering if anyone else had that problem. i'm really hoping that no one peed in my car. (a friend told me it may be mold on my condenser) i'm stuck, the air fresheners aren't cutting it. thanks a bunch in advance.

BG Frigifresh should get rid of the smell. It kills bacteria and mold while smelling pretty darn good in the process.

that used to happen to me too. simple solution... before you turn your car off, switch the a/c off & run some room temp or outside air through the vents for a minute or two. that will eliminate condensation and get rid of the mold & cat pee smell.

Your friend's probably right - there might be mold in your HVAC system. Autozone carries a spray that you introduce into your HVAC to kill the mold, but the name escapes me now Good luck.

any idea of where the outside A/C air intake is located. i scoured my car with a napkin and didn't see any places that wanted to suck it in.
