differences between SE and GXE trim

are there any differences in the SE and GXE besides the SE's extended side mirrors, the 5 spd transmission, the engine, and the BOSE sound system?

SE---
white gauges, factory spoiler, different seat pattern (line going down center), black mirrors, different wheels, factory Bose, 5spd available but not standard, in 92-94 the SE has a 190hp VE30DE, stiffer springs, rear disk brakes standard regardless of ABS, black trim around windows, in 89-91 the SE had a dark grey center trunk piece and smoked tails with black trim, in 92-94 the SE had black trim around the tails, in the early years (maybe pre 92) sunroofs were standard on SEs.

GXE---
black gauges, optional spoiler, different seat pattern (no line going down center), painted body color mirrors, daisy wheels, Bose optional, no 5spd available, all GXEs had 160hp VG30E, not as stiff springs, rear disk brakes on available on ABS models, chrome trim around windows, chrome around tail lights and not smoked, sunroof available, all GXEs had a door keypad with keyless entry, some GXEs (early years) had optional heads up display, electronic gauges, adjustable suspension, and auto climate control (this is otional in all GXEs).

I may have missed something here and there but thats a good run down. For more info check the stickies and look for CraigBs site.

On the SE (at least in 1992) actually a 5-speed was considered standard. The AT cost more and was an option, even though most of them just came with an AT.

Another thing the SE has is heated mirrors.

On VE SEs (I don't know about pre-92) the only options are: AT, leather, power seats, moonroof, ABS, mudflaps and floor mats. Also an airbag was optional in 92, but standard in 93-94. I think the power seats are on the factory leather, while dealer installed leather and cloth seats are manually adjustable. Does anyone have power cloth seats? I haven't seen them, but I could be wrong there.

I believe they also charged more for the pearl paint, but I don't know if that's really considered an option.

Yeah I said it wrong.

I think that may be standard on all 92 up including GXE...OR it was an option on the GXE because my 92 GXE had heated mirrors.

Also I stated that the GXEs had an optional spoiler. I am not sure if it was a factory option or just a dealer installed option (much like MrGone's old leather).

It has white gauges, factory spoiler, blue seats with black lines going down, (had) the nissan rims with black center, mud flaps, factory Bose, 5spd , V-6, smoked tails, manual cloth seats and I think it has a dark grey center trunk piece.

It is an SE. Only the SE is available with a 5-speed. Not to mention the white gauges (SE only).

I know it's kinda off topic, and I know that gxes had the option of foglights, but I've NEVER seen a gxe with stock fogs, anyone got a pic?

Look around on Matts site. He has GXE fogs on his SE. They are smaller and cheaper. If you dont have a kit the GXE fogs look the best.

There is a guy in town that has a GXE with stock foglights. It is a 92-94, at least the grille is. I haven't looked at them really close, but I will tomorrow.

I don't think anyone mentioned standard "dual tipped mufflers" on the newer SE's. Not sure if the 89-91 came with this though.

Edit: This should clear things up - http://www.4dsc.com/articles/general...mparison.shtml

Heated mirrors was standard equipment on the se, but only optional equipment on gxe's.

That is why some gxe's have it and some do not.....

is everything interchangable between the SEs and the GXEs? Only ask because i have a GXE that im getting that had white face gauges that look stock. That and i cant stand the rear trunk panel on the GXEs. I like the smoked ones better that are on the SEs.

well if you have a GXE that has the SE gauges, it won't be accurate I don't think. The White SE gauges went up to 145 MPH, while the GXE gauges only went to 125 MPH.

here is a overveiw of 94 se and gxe standard and optional equipment....not sure of its accuracy...http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Sp...mid=-1&src=vip

This should be in the stickies so all the newbs can overlook it and start a pointless thread....

according to various sources, the SE had two suspension options.

Level 1 was the base
Level 2 was optional and included V-rated tires among other things.

Not sure accurate those online sources are though... One of them is an actual brochure copied off of Nissan NA.

How? How does your speedo tell the difference in guages? I'm just wondering cause I think My speedo is out and someone has swapped in different gauges, I figured that was the problem

Nope. GXE gauges 125mph every year. 89-92 se 125mph with white face, and 92-94 se 145 mph white face. I have a 89 se and 2 90 se's, all have 125mph white face gauges, and thats why alot of people want the VE gauges as they are the 145mph.

Oh and only one of my SE's had mud flaps, 2 have fogs ( I have to double check that) all 3 have the blows sterio, all have sun roof, dont think any have heated mirrors, all have body colored grills and black mirrors. I read while back that diffrent year SEs had diffrent mirriors. And some one bought diffrent ones on the same year. I donno but something to think about

~Alex

edit- 89redmax, I think he was saying should. 2 of my maxs dont read right. Im not sure what the problem is but I dont think its in the cluster. but if your gauge reads rite and you change from a 125mph to a 145mph cluster It should be fine. But Im no expert.
