How much are new speaker amps?

Both my front ones are fubar. The rear ones seem fine, but are probably on their last legs as well. How much would new/rebuilt ones cost? Could I find them at a junkyard for cheaper?

Best bet is to save your money and give ebay a visit. All you really need is some front speakers, HU, and possibly an amp. These could run for about 250 alttogether shipped. I did my system off of ebay (JVC Arsenal sx8350 HU, SPL 4x6 120watt speakers up front, 2 8" subs and 2 Horn tweeters, Pyramid amp to power them. Altogether it costed me about $210. Now I am upgrading to a bigger amp to bring my totals up to 310.

I was looking through the FAQ's and a few cardomain sites, and I can't, for the life of me, find those 5X7 Speaker mounts that someone sells.. I need to buy some pLZZ.

you don't want 5x7s, since you would have to find a way to mount them. A set of 4x6s will fit in the doors if you remove the Bose pod, but those suck, too.

James92SE makes speaker pods that will hold 6.5" speakers. Buy some pods from him, then buy at minimum a decent set of two way speakers. Seperates if you can afford it.

I have said this before, but I guess since there isn't a search function -- Bose SUCKS. Yeah, the stuff was pretty decent for a stock system 10, 12, 15 years ago, but this is 2004. For a few hundred bucks you can get a decent HU that plays MP3s, some 6x9s and some 6.5" door speakers and run them off of the HU.

If you take away my amp and sub (which are optional and not really needed) I am into the main part of my system for about $400. I paid $275 for the HU, $100 for the front speakers (used from an .org member) and $20 for the 6x9s (used off of ebay).

Alpine 9807 (base model MP3 unit)
Diamond Audio 6.5" coaxials
Infiniti Reference 6x9s

I also have a Phoenix Gold M44 amp and an Eclipse Aluminum 8122DVC sub. I also have some money tied up in Phoenix Gold wires, but that was my choice and not required.
