questions about J&S safeguard
questions about J&S safeguard
Hey whats up guys, I have an 02 Altima SE and I'm running a 100hp shot
of n20 right now and I'm about to order a J&S safeguard. Is it easy
to install? Anyway with 5th or 6th gen using this yet? I know 350z
guys are but there are no directions on J&S website for any altimas or
any maximas besides 1996.

You will probably need the FSM or someone from your Altima forum to find the ECM "key"... The coil wires colors/#s may vary... It's not too hard to install. you'll really only be using the "retard on nitrous" feature and the retard on knock detection... You'll also be using a wasted spark configuration so it may not work with other "ignition" products... be aware.
yeah I talked to John at J&S and he says its really easy just find the wire on each coil that has continuity at the ecu and cut the wire, put the adapter in and connect the wire and the J&S wire into each coil. Then tap into the knock sensor line. then a basic ground and 12v source.
I do have a question though, can I put a switch on the unit so it only comes on while I'm on the juice? I mean i want to pull some base timing but not while n/a. I would like to wire it to my n20 arming switch. But i'm wondering if it will kick in fast enough or if it has to load up before it will work.
Whos using this?

There is already a NOS signal in wire so it will ONLY retard by X degrees upon spraying...
