poor performance even after: VTC, exhaus..

hi ,
hope someone has some insight..
i have installed new knocksensor, fixed exhaust manifold leak, rebuit VTC's (not related to problem though) and i still get the symptoms related to bad knocksensor which i did have... as in sluggish sometimes, and other times better ,....but still not as it should..
what im thinking and would like suggestions is... my catalytic converter is clogged slightly.. BUT i recently got a emmission test and it passed with flying colours... any suggestions if this could be it ??
everyone throw your educated guesses this way... please.. and thank you

let me guess, the power below 3500rpm is intermitten, sometimes it'll be gone for days at a time, sometimes it'll surge.
when the power is gone, unplug the knock sensor and see if that makes a difference. if it doesnt i'm willing to bet its the same problem as julio. that is going to be addressed with a new wiring harness..hopefully that fixes it.
also, try wiggling the wiring harness at the firewall and see if that does anything.

thanks everyone..

JEFF: so you DO think its the cat.? and emissions woudlnt prove to me its clogged?

i checked the resistance at the end of the harness, and it checks out fine.. so im doubting the harness, but if it is...where can you buy them?? other than nissan dealer ofcourse

cracked coil..hmmm.. ive had a cracked coil before, and it was very noticable...but ill check that (anyone remember the voltage reading for those??? )

blown injector?!?! ive never experienced that. does it completely fail? perform poorly?

oh yeah, i live in Barrie. Where the hell is rancho cucamonga??

by the way, can someone direct me to FSM ... the little one likes to colour apparently......IN MY FSM !! so help me please

thanks

check the resistance for each injector, for the back three injectors there is a subharness. Should be between 11 and 14 ohms.

I would think a clogged cat would still be able to perform so yes, it could be it.

I recommend checking the ignition timing. If its not within spec the engine doesn't want to run correctly, especially if its too advanced without using 91+ octane.

if you want to test the cat just unbolt it and go drive around. if the power comes back you found the answer to your question

i dont think a craked coil would cause power loss. it could cause missing or hesitation

KN harness is a good guess

hey Nismo
i got all set-up to verify the timing, but i cant get a good view of the engine marks, or the pully marks (due to air conditioning system) i was thinking of taking the righ front tire off, and marking the outside (face) of the pully.

do you guys have a better idea than this ??

anyone know where i can find that FSM copy too.
thanks for all the great ideas, i will post with results...cuz i know i hate reading dead threads.
