I want to convert my 95 Max front end to look like the 97-99. Is this possible? A wholesaler that sells nissan parts claims that it is a simple bolt on conversion if you buy the bumper cover, grill, headlights and parking lights that fit the 97-99 models...Is this true?

Please let me know...
Thanks

I've seen a Pontiac Fierro converted into a Ferrari Testorosa B4.

Why would you want to do that? A Maxima is a Maxima... I think the things to change out are the headlights. 95 comes with the smokey lights, but the later years are clear lens with reflectors.

I changed mine out. It was difficult to get to the screws, but overall it's "plug and play."

Re: honestly...

Cause it looks better. I think the grill and the bumper for the 97+ is a little more agressive looking and the headlights look 10x better.

Why'd you get new rims? A wheel is a wheel is a wheel, right?

True! True! The bumper looks better on the later models. I like the fog light assembly on the new ones...

Just for clarification: my max is my max, and it ain't just any maxima... hehehe...

P.S. It's only $600 - $800 for the entire front end?!?!?! The parts alone from the dealership costs twice as that....

Dealership?!? Why would you want to go there and get raped?

You could do it if you looked around junkyards and stuff. And http://www.autodirectsave.com has some pretty good prices too.

I was planning on doing the front end conversion because I got into a minor front end collision and I thought, might as well redo my front end. But my rear brakes needed attention first and stupid me... went to the dealer and got them replaced for $2000 ... when I could have just gotten a Stillen big brake upgrade for that much.

Okay, sure... it's a deal!

My entire rear brakes were replaced. Calipers, rotors, pads, and cable. But included in the $2000 was the 75K tune-up and a replaced CV boot... so... technically, the brakejob itself was only around $1000 ... still way too high. But my dad was paying for it and I told him I could do it cheaper, but he trusts the dealer.

are your headlights any brighter/clearer with the 97-99 headlight housing instead of the 95-96? thanks

It's a world of difference...

I actually tested the two different ones by replacing only one and comparing them. I blocked one side and viewed the light pattern, and then did the same for the other side.

Under same conditions, the '98 assembly produced a more focused pattern, whereas the '95 assembly had light scattering everywhere. I actually measured the '95 pattern to be 6" larger in radius at 3 feet. Now imagine the pattern at 15 feet. It's a HUGE difference.

If you like to see "everything" on the road, ie. top of trees and shrubs 5 feet from the sidewalk, stay with the '95 assembly. If you prefer that your "path" is more brightly lit, then change to the '98 assembly.

Just my $0.02...
