The power steering in my Maxima requires Dexron II trans fluid, my local parts place and gas stations only carry Dexron III, is it ok to use Dexron III instead?

 

I've used Dexron III for years in my PS system... no problems.

 

What about mixing the old Dexron II with new Dexron III? Will that hurt anything?

By the way, I read the posts about power steering fluid in the general forums, but they seemed to all be from people with newer models, not sure they really apply to me.

 

Dexron III is a direct replacement for Dexron, Dexron II and Mercon.
