ok so i have a 92 maxima gxe and i im confiused if it is a dohc or a sohc ..my dad said it was a single cause it should have 4 cams 2 for every output....but my friend says it is a dual cause it has two valve covers ect.... so im lost and i am just learning about cars so i can not tell by myself.....
ok thanks.....the reason i was wondering is i was looking for a cold air intake system for my car but all the ones i found were for dohc only..and i can not find anythat will fit a sohc so anyone know some that will post here please.....

I responded in your last thread.

Hi,
If I can remember it came from the 90-93 honda accord,
it was pit5bull that has the setup on his car,
you can check it out on his site,

what the... I swear this was 2 seperate threads a while ago LOL.
Yeah I would go with 3" definitely but in reality the 2.5 shouldnt make much of a difference. I mean the CAI doesnt make that much HP and the TB is only around 2.5 so you are restricted there (but you still want as much air as possible to that point though).
Still if a 3" is available I would rather go with it...I just dont see it makeing 1 or 2 HP difference if that...I seriously doubt a 2.5 intake will starve a VG.

alright another thing on a lot of these there is ahole drilled through the front driver side wheel well then the air filiter goes outside. now my question is do you have to do that?....because one im not car savy and well i don't have enough money to have some one do it and nore the parts to do it myself
Performance gains from intakes of any kind are fleeting at best. So anything that will restrict flow is going to hurt any type of gains that might be available. I don't know if the gains(if any) from an Accord CAI with 2.5" pipe is worth the cheap price or not. But if a properly sized intake using a 3" pipe is only good for a few hp, then I'd have to assume using a pipe that's too small is going to negate any gains that might be had. Hell you might actually lose power. Now that $40 intake is worthless. Someone should dyno and see what this thing does. Maybe it works I don't know. But I'm going to guess that if exhaust diameter sizes make a difference in power, then so would the intake size.

well for right now im not looking for performance untill i get to know cars a little bit more i was just wanting it to look a little bit better cause the one i have it getting old and craking and it is cheaper to get one of thought cheap ones then to go to a nizzan dealer and get a oem replacment i already have enough that i have to buy for it like my speed sencer brakes and roaters struts and my mass air flow meter houseing was craked and is being held together with jb weld and that piece alone is like 250
the maf being help together with jb weld is no biggie.
You may want to check my prices on brakes , rotors, and struts.
Can't help on the VSS though, dealer is cheaper than me at the moment

I agree with you on just about everything but we dont know that 2.5 would restrict the flow much especially on a VG...How much air does a VG need? Youre right someone needs to dyno with one. Remember exhaust diameter is only good to a point though.
Personally I wouldnt use anything less than 3" but considering most people just want the sound then I dont think it would really matter.
I only got a cai because its pretty
and dont care about any gain...I dont want a loss but dont care if I get a gain...not on this car anyway.
Alright for the hole to make for the CAI you can get a 3.5" circular hole saw bit that goes into a drill. The hole probably will have to be a lil bit on an oval shape because it goes through at an angle. I made my hole about 4" but haven't had any problems. they give you a template when you order it from Warpspeed or if someone wants to lend you theirs. I didn't have one so I wouldnt be able to send you one.
It really doesn't come really come out of your wheel well as per say. It comes out behind the wheel well lining and on the inside between the fenderwall and the engine compartment but away from the engine itself and about a good amount away from the tires and ground.Just be careful if you dont have linings or if you get into a heavy rainstorm and it's flooded in your area stay AWAY from large puddles. You can get hydrolocked by the intake sucking in water. I've gotten a few drop on my filter and it has gotten wet from rain and snow but no engine damage at all and I changed the filter and moved it up a lil on the lower piping so my filter sits right on the hole you make for the CAI system. Feels like it pulls a lil more for some reason though. Probably just me
