Maximas came turbocharged from the factory??

OK i was browsing a webpage and found this article. while it's not the entire article, i never knew there were turbo maxes from the factory.

Isn't that the bluebird? I think it has a VG20ET. They were made for austrailia too I think. They look my 88 max.

it says in the article that it's a V6 Turbo Nissan Maxima...

Yeah, they are the same chassis as a Maxima with a VG20DET. The VG20DET is a 2 liter, DOHC, V6, turbocharged. I hear those things are pretty damn mean.

yea that looks the same as a 2nd gen but i bet it was only avalible with an auto trans

Actually, it's a SOHC motor, but yes, a VG20ET. It's known actually as the Nissan Bluebird Maxima Legran, not just Nissan Maxima. It's also a pillarless design, which is pretty nice if you ask me. I have pics of an 85-86 style one including the engine bay if anyone is interested.

Cool. Oh yeah, the Japanese have the VQ30DET in the Gloria/Cedric. Damn, wish that was offered here in the states.

are you sure? i always thought the turbo vg20's were dohc. they had vg20e's but i can't find any that are turbocharged.
