Spoiler Light Assembly - can ANYBODY help???
ok, some of you are going to think i'm nuts, others just why you didn't think of it earlier. But anyway, I want the lights on the spoiler to run like they did on the front of KIT, the Knight Rider car, or side to side, sweeping across on the LED's. Is this possible, and how?... I've asked atleast a billion places.. no help. Thanks. I figured if anyone would know how to do it, this would be the place to find the person!

I don't know if it would be worth such efforts just for a possibly illegal spoiler light.
Well, each individual LED would have to be independently wired to some sort of control circuit. I haven't had an electrical tech class in ages (ok, so 5 years. I just have the memory of a goldfish), so I can't remember how to build anything that would step lights. I also can't remember what IC is used for this task. However, this will most likely require a custom PC board to be etched, cause the large number of LEDs would make it kind of hard to free-wire the project.

hhmmm...
thanks for the info Klamath, i know that it would definitly be some work, but I would love to see something like that work, and I am somewhat familiar with circuits, and could probably find the correct processor or gates for it, but i need to know if it is really feasible to be done on a spoiler assembly
hahaha
Well, one thing I can think of, is buy one of those LED scanners and rip out the IC and rewire it to your spoiler.
By the way, in most places with laws, this is illegal. The rear stop lights must not strobe, or flash unless they are indicating a turn or a hazard.

or if you want, you could get someone on the org to build a IC for you. I would do it myself, but I'm busy right now...trying to modify my door switch LEDs!

I would know how to design a circuit that would make it do this, but getting it to fit in the small area probably wouldn't work. I haven't learned how to program chips yet, so I would have to do it with like 5 chips or so.
