1st time at Track...14.9@93.39mph.. Let me know where I can improve

Great Lakes Dragaway
Union Grove, WI

1995 Nissan Maxima SE 5spd
Mods:
Short Ram (HAI Intake) K&N Filter
Budget Y Pipe
CustomMaxima Straight Pipe
Greddy/Trust Muffler(Stock Catback)
Exedy Stage 1 Racing Clutch
STS

Full Interior, Two 12inch floor mounted subs and amp, No spare tire. Stock jack in trunk full interior plus about 30 pounds of extra stuff(tools and more).(My car weighed in at 3050 pound about a year ago with my 17's on and my sound system in...Thats without me in it, I weigh 185 pounds). 1/4 tank of 93 octane gas, 15 inch sawblades with blizzak tires at 25psi. This is my first time at the track and I spun pretty badly in 1st gear and most of 2nd gear. Also had a CEL for my rear o2 sensor.

Times:
**EDIT** Found another timeslip this morning for a 14.906@93.22mph 2.296 60' Look 3 posts down for full Timeslip.

Best timeslip:

R/T: .718
60': 2.279
330: 6.338
1/8: 9.669
MPH: 73.43
1000: 12.508
1/4: 14.914
MPH: 93.39

Worst timeslip:

R/T: .024
60' 2.384
330 6.557
1/8 9.905
MPH 72.59
1000 12.761
1/4 15.171
MPH 93.36

I made 11 runs tonight between 8:13pm and 9:53pm...All runs between 14.9 and 15.171. Please help me understand what I can do better to lower my times. Also does it seem possible to get my car to a low 14(14.2/3 maybe?)?? If not what do I need to do?

Any help appreciated!!

Thanks,

-Nick

the only thing i could suggest is some weight reduction but your 60ft times look good which are key. try to shave a couple pounds off your max.

Where are you shifting at? Iirc with ~93mph 1/4 mile speed I think you'd have a 14.7.

Also, are you shifting into 4th or staying in 3rd?
As said above too...do some weight reduction. (translation: Take out the SYSTEM!!) I had a race weight of 3150 with me in it last time I went out and I hit 14.6@94.

Lastly, the rear o2 sensor code wouldn't affect performance.

This morning I found another timeslip in my pockets:

R/T .201
60' 2.296
330 6.334
1/8 9.659
MPH 73.33
1000 12.495
1/4 14.906
MPH 93.22

I shifted into 4th every run except one and I think I ran a 15.0XX with not shifting 4th, but that was probably because of my 60' time that run. My shifts were pretty much this: 1st Gear Redline, 2-3 Gear 6300, 3-4 5900.

not to bust your stones but i run 14.6 totally missing 3rd and taking precious time to jam it in lol. nah i remember my very first run was a 15.2 with just a cone intake. sorry i'm just being an @ss. try staging the car at 1,500-2,000 (basically just resting your foot on the gas). when the third light glows quickly feed in throttle and rapidly release the clutch without dropping it. if the tires are slightly squealing for about 1-2 sec then you know you got a great launch. now, if the tires are straight up spinning for over two seconds and you're not going anywhere then you need to feed less throttle and clutch on launches. i usually redline first and second gears then shift at 6200 for third into fourth gear although i believe the launch is more important than what rpm you shift at. good luck. can anyone please get me into consistent 13's with street tires??? it can be done right? i'm ranked like 16 on maximaracing forums so i know there's a bunch of you faster than me!

Did you beat that Grand Prix? It looked pretty close right up til the end.

I turned around and then looked back and I know you both got 14's but the readouts sucked and I couldn't tell what the tenths and hundredths were. I thought you ran an 14.87 that time, but apperently I misread it.

I ran a 14.9 that run and the GTP ran a 14.6. So he did beat me.

Damn the man.

Did you see the guy with the Vette that smoked his clutch and ran like a 15.01? Idiot. Still had temporary tags on it too.

Too bad you didn't run him, then you could tell everybody you smoked a Vette.
