Need help picking a NTK O2 sensor for 87 Max
Need help picking a NTK O2 sensor for 87 Max
I've checked with about 7 Nissan dealers in the Tri-State area, and all either carried only the Bosch version, or had no idea what I was talking about. So. I'm going to try and install the sensor myself, although I'm having trouble removing the old one. Do oxygen sensor sockets come in different sizes? I had trouble fitting the one that AutoZone provides for rental over the NTK sensor thats in my car. I think it was 22mm socket that they provided. At the time it seemed like I needed a smaller one. Can anyone help with that as well?

On the above page, 3 sensors are listed. I know the first doesn't qualify, as its out of the year range for my car. But which should I pick, the 2nd or 3rd group?

I don't know off the top of my head the O2 socket sizes. Your best off going down to a auto parts store and picking up an O2 socket. It has a notch cut out of it so you can fit the harness.

the O2 socket size should be 22mm, and as Sarin mentioned, it will have a slot cut on 1 of the 6 sides for the harness..
Or you can use a 22mm wrench as well (double wrenched with another wrench for better leverage if space is an issue with the O2 socket).
NTK (NGK) O2 sensor... IMO they're a tad costy, but a notch higher as well in quality (supposedly, material wise). however, BOSCH unit works just fine IME.
if you need to confirm which group may be right for you, check the sticker on the B pillar, it should say when the car's actually manufactred.
