Need help with my cruise control???

I was trying to operate my cruise control last night and it wasn't working. Can anyone give me some hints to troubleshoot the cruise control. By the way the light on the cruise control switch works. But nothing happens when I hit SET/COAST or RESUME/ACCEL. Nothing happens!!!
Any advice would be helpful. I Kinda like to use cruise control when I'm not lead footin it on the highway.
