Need some help. See bottom reply please!!!

Any tips on getting the factory radio out of my 97 maxima? I am sure the front plate comes off and then there are screws behind that on both sides but are there any tips for getting the front plate off? I don't want to break it.

Any help is appreciated.

Someone must have the crutchfield instructions. If not I guess I can type out directions for you.

Thanks Nick I hope someone does or can give a quick tip for getting the front plate off.

Also does anyone know if a 99 factory BOSE cd/tape deck will go in my 97 GXE with a non-boss tape deck without having to have the factory amps? Does the Bose deck have internal amps or is the use of amps necessary?

Thanks again.

That is just what I needed. Thanks guys. Can anyone answer the Bose question. I found a factory Bose cd/tape deck and want to put it in but don't have amps and only the 4 speakers. This is for my wife and don't want to get into all that. Just need to know if I can set that deck in and hook it up and have decent sound. I know most of those setups have 6 or 8 speakers and there are amps for each. Is there an internal amp in the deck itself?

I believe each Bose speaker has its own amp. You need the Bose HEad unit to power these or if you go with a non-Bose head unit you will ned some type of adapter or the ohm difference-You may want to pose this questions in the Audio forum...

Thanks Kratz I did. I know the Bose setup has an amp for each speaker and don't know if the use of the Bose deck requires external amps. I have the ****ty factory speakers in there now and don't know if the Bose unit itself will work without the use of those amps. Basically I want to just take out the factory non bose tape deck and put the bose cd/tape deck in it's place and use the 4 existing factory speakers.

Haha.. okay the deal with the stock bose face and amps for the speakers is that to use any speakers with that headunit you need the speakers to go to an amp.. like a 200 or 400 watt multi channel amp.. then you need a lightning audio box to convert the remote wire to the frequ's of the head unit.. i did it with mine till i got the pioneer DEH 7200 with dolphins, no more lightning box.. aiight?
