2K2 Bose speakers in a 2K GXE

My friend upgraded his 2k2 bose speakers for something better. So i thought it would be a good chance to upgrade from the stock clarions for cheap. i swapped the stock headunit w/ a sony mdx-mp70 receiver, which turned out to be a big improvement. what do i need to do to hook up the bose speakers and sub? is it worth the effort? or should i just stop being cheap and get an aftermarket and have (circuit city, etc.) hook it up?

AFAIK, You cannot mix and match bose components and aftermarket. It's either all bose (speakers, amps, head unit, etc) or NO Bose. I am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong...but that's how it is in my Acura.

So far you can do, and has been done:

- Aftermarket sub with default bose system using a PAC10 adapter or whatever the PAC number was.

- aftermarket speakers using default bose HU via a 1ohm resistor per speaker and an amp....

Can't say for sure about your scenario, but the bose uses an amp for each speaker so you will need to rig it right. I guess you can play with it on a workbench in your garage and see if it works before doing it in the car.

hrm. you maybe right. the circuit city guy asked me whether the speakers were bose or not. it seems like there are special wiring, etc. that will accomodate the bose speakers. also, would i need to yank out all the panels to wire the receiver to the sub?

btw- you could probably find a Bose head unit and amp here on the org for sale...alot of guys get rid of the Bose and put in aftermarket stuff, so you could check the FS forum....
