MAF location on Vortech'd Max. in relation to AWIC

Well most of you reading this probably caught my original post on this car, but i have a question i thought warranted its own post. We started on this install today and we are debating where to locate the MAF in relation to the charge cooler. I dont even know if it will make a difference, but it will damn sure be easier to put it upstream of the aftercooler than down. But is there any advantage to having the cooler air flowing through the MAF. Like on my LS1, the MAF has an IAT built in, so youd want it to be reading the cooler temps, but i dont think the Max has this. Any feedback is appreciated.

My understanding of how a hot wire maf sensor works is that it is independent of air temperature, to an extent at least. It measures the air mass directly, so whether it is metering cool, dense air or warm, less dense air is immaterial. The IAT sensor that is part of the Maxima's system is used to determine whether the maf sensor is functioning correctly, according to the factory service manual.

Bottom line is I don't think it makes much difference. Most supercharged 4th gen Maximas have the maf in the pressurized side where the temps are warmer, and very few have aftercoolers. It seems to work fine that way.

This is pretty much the conclusion we all came to here. Having the MAF on the pressurized side, at least to a guy used to blown 'Stangs, is odd as hell in the first place. Its going on the upstream side of the AWIC regardless (as in the piping is already cut). Thanks Stephen.
