35% tint with a 20% tint backwindow??
35% tint with a 20% tint backwindow??
I am about to get tints on my 97 max 35% is legal in MA so i am gonna go with that to avoid any problems but I have heard that if you tint the rear window 20% that it makes the rest of the car look darker. has anyone tried this?
note: when I say back window i mean just the rear window opposite the windshield

Yes, I have 35 on the front and 20 on the rear window on my 96 I30. The darker the tint you put on the car no matter what windows you do, does effect the shade of the other windows a little.
If you think about it, it makes sense. the percentage on the tint shows you how much light is allowed to pass through the tint. For instance, 35% tint allows only 35% of light to pass through into the car.
Your question is sort of hard to explain, but the answer is yes, it will make the other windows look al little bit darker than 35%.
I hope that helped a little?

I dont like the look of the front tint being different than the back windows
to clarify I was thinking about getting 35% on all windows including the left and right back windows and to tint the rear window (only)20%

I'd say do it. I have 35 all around and now wish I could have 20 on the backs, and 5 on the rear. The tint laws are really just so cops can see who's inside. If you're driving alone, or with one other passenger, all you've gotta do is roll down the front windows a little, and you'll be fine.
I have exactly what you are planning, 35% all sides with 20% rear, had it for 8 months, no hassles from the cops, awesome at night, still can see inside in the daytime but great look, whatever you do don't go darker on the rear or else you won't be able to see squat reversing at night. See my WWW tab below for pics with tint
Maxrb8 your tint looks great. It looks like it makes a huge difference from using 35% all around do you have issues seeing through the back window at night with 20%. either way I think i am going to go with that
i have limo 5% all around cept for front which is stock. On a black car it's gorgeous. Seeing outside is a hassle but you get used to it after a while. My gf has 35% all around and it seems like there's no tint on it whatsoever. I like the privacy better. go DARK!

Hey sagemistse, No I have no problems seeing through the back window at night at all, I have a long driveway I back out of with no ground lighting and I can see fine, also high beams don't bother me from other cars when I cut them off, of course that rarely happens! I am 100% satisfied with my tint choice. I know a cop and he said the part they don't like is not being able to see the driver, he says if he can see the driver he won't pull them over, but if the tint is so dark he can't see the driver it's ticket time!
