Have Cattman Headers/Ypipe combo! Getting PFI Turbo Kit can i fit has ne1 done b4?

Basically i just had the headers and Y-pipe installed cause i was going to supercharge, but now ive decided to go turbo and i dont want to loose my headers in the process!

So my question is
1. Will they fit the PFI KIT ypipe?
2. If they dont fit can they be welded by a good shop to fit?(like the place whos doing my turbo?)
3. Would i need certain filanges to fit it? since it is a 3" ypipe?

plz someone help, and if anyone has done this already please let me know

Hello,

You should probably post this question in the SC / TC forum to get a more accurate response. But here is my opinion....

I don't think the PFI Y-pipe will bolt directly onto the Cattman headers. The Cattman headers are longer then the stock exhaust manifolds & I'm pretty sure the PFI kit was developed around the stock manifolds to make it a bolt on kit. I think you should be able to retain your headers anyway. Any exhaust shop worth there weight in salt should be able to incorperate the Cattman Y-pipe into the PFI Y-pipe piece. All they would have to do is section the 2 pieces together & make sure the piping is the proper length so the turbo will retain the proper mounting location. That way all the other pieces that come with the PFi kit will line up properly. If a exhaust shop tells you that it can't be done, I suggest finding another shop to do the work. I would deffinitly find a way to retain the headers. Even if it means having a custom Y-pipe fabricated from the headers to the turbo. I dont think it would be benifical to put the restrictive stock manifolds back on the car. So I would figure out a way to keep the headers on the car.

Look at this picture of the Cattman set up. All the exhaust shop would have to do it cut the Cattman Y-pipe somewhere before the flange that connects to the flex pipe & adapt the PFI piece. The most important part of doing this would be making sure that the turbo still sit's in the proper location so all the other pieces of the kit still fit properly. And that the modified y-pipe is able to reach the turbo so it can be bolted up.
