How Much Would You Pay For This Car?

Hello, im considering taking a 200 mile drive Thursday for a Max. I'm curious to know what a reasonable price is for this:

1997 SE
5-Speed
122,000 Miles
Black/Black Leather
BOSE
Female/Mother Owner

What would you be willing to pay?

More details needed, tranny good? leather good? any body damages? Not to be picky but you need a better idea of the car, for those details I would only ask for $4,500 since there is no other info on the car.

yea, things like, sunroof, heated seats, power seats, ABS, premium wheels, body condition, engine/tranny condition can affect the price by ~ 2 grand give or take

sunroof/moonroof itself is about $600

SMX95, thats one clean car u got there

If they are asking more than 6500-7000 (this is absolutely the highest), don't get it. Depending on the options they could ask for about 200 more but that's it.

I paid almost 10k for my '97 5-speed about a year ago...

But I got a 97 SE with 49k, just had a major tune up done by a 20yr nissan mechanic (husband of the woman who drove it ... like a nanny at that!) With a great exterior, mint interior, new tires, new rotors/pads; absolutely perfect condition. The price may have been just a tad high but I'm very pleased with it.. no regrets.

And if you start haggling over prices or anything something they might say that makes it more expensive is the BOSE, don't let them try to play you on that! The BOSE systems in our cars start to act up at around this age for the '97s and it can be quite costly to remedy... Simply because you cant just get any aftermarket head unit since each individual speaker is amplified etc.

What some people end up doing is having to replace the whole system ... aftermarket head unit and regular aftermarket speakers that are powered by the headunit or another amp (I'm not sure if they need to run new wiring for this?)

With regards to tomservo291's Bose comment, not that this is a big deal, but you can use your Bose speakers with an aftermarket headunit. There are two ways to do this. You can either have it wired to use the Bose speaker amps and bypass the headunit amp, or you can bypass the Bose speaker amps and use your aftermarket headunit amp.

Anyway, I just wanted to clear that up for anyone reading it so people didn't get confused and spend a lot of money on things they may not need to.

I personally bypassed each Bose speaker amp and am using the aftermarket headunit amp.

Ok, that's all, Have a great day everyone.

Yeah, thats about where i was guessing. I have to call back and find out more details, its has leather and it does have a moonroof so im assuming it should have the BOSE also (?). Theyre asking 6k, im planning on offering low-mid 5s for it assuming there are no major flaws with the car (maybe more if theres heated seats ) Thanks for the help.

I paid 7000 for my 96 GLE fully loaded (every option except fog lights).... In almost perfect condition with 75k miles. This was also from a Nissan dealer so we got a lot of extra perks along with it. It started out at about 11 grand which is ridiculous but for a dealer they came down a lot, considering it was on the lot for only 3 days before we began to look at it. The only other great deal I considered but waited too long on was a 99 Grand Prix GT with 63k, sunroof and quite a few options for 7900.... and i mean that car was in ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE shape. My Max ran SMOOTH as hell and still does, with 80k (just got it). I put a spoiler on it, clear corners, and tited the windows for about 450 and it is one hell of a sharp car now. That being said, if the car you're looking at has sunroof/leather and was in GREAT condition I would pay about 7k. However, if you don't feel it was well maintained or driven, I would only offer about 6.
