How can I tell the difference of whether or not a Cattman Y-pipe is either a gen. 1 or gen. 2?

 

IIRC...earlier cattman Y uses a mesh type of flex section. several people had problem with it - the flex section will shrink and restrict the exhaust flow. Cattman replaced the flex section with a ring-type one in the next generation. They also reduced the welding points.
