Diagnostic Help Needed RE: Intake Air Temp Sensor

A couple of months ago, I purchased a used Stillen cold air intake for my 97 SE. Immdediately after installing it, the ECU trouble light illuminated (check engine light). I reset it and it reappeared. The trouble code is for the air intake temp sensor. I did not think that I messed with any wires when installing the intake and have double and tripple checked all connections. Additionally, I was told by more than one person that my model year was not even equipped with said sensor. Anyone with insight, please respond. Thank you.

When you removed the stock airbox, did you unplug any wired connectors? The air intake sensor unit is mounted on the air box and runs to a connector. Check your airbox for a wire with a plug end, if it's there disconnect it from the box and plug it back into it's connector located close to the drivers side strut mount, good luck

I think you're reffering to the Ambient Temp sensor which is different than the air intake temp sensor and located in a different area.

any idea where the ambient air temp is located? I do not recall and strongly doubt that I removed anything connected to a wire without replacing it. Any other ideas? I guess it's possible, but we just moved and the stock air box found its way to the dump during the move.

the sensor itself on my 96 is located on the top of the filter box and is held down by two bolts. I think with the cones you have to mount the sensor before or on the filter to run right

you might have to put it in the filter becuase my friends g20 ran like **** be for we put the sensor in the pipe on his cai. The sensor might start working when an air flow is created.
