MAP sensor issues...**PICS**
Alrighty then.....I put a new motor in a few weeks ago. It was from a 97 automatic Maxima and my car is a 96 I30 5spd. So of course there were some issues with sensors I did not need and such. I used all my wiring.
So, I guess there is a difference between where my MAP sensor solenoid is located and where the one on the new motor was. The one on the motor was set horizontal next to the opening where you can see the knock sensor

I am not using that one, and it's just left there. Is that a problem?
Right next to that MAP solenoid is the one I am using. It sits vertical next to the knock sensor sub harness connector

Then there was a hose that I did not know where to connect it to, and there was not place for it to go. So I just plugged it up. That hose is above the MAO solenoid I am using.

Any problems with this? Either having that unused MAP solenoid left there or having that hose plugged up and not used? No CEL's and car runs good except for this problem: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=334460
I can take some different pics if needed to give more a referance to what your looking at.

I didn't know the VQ series engines use a MAP sensor for induction data...
(I know there's a MAP sensor but it's mainly a BARO sensor, for checking atmospheric pressure outside... at least on my 2K)

The thing in the first pic is the EGRC solenoid valve. Thing in the second pic is MAP/BARO solenoid valve, it's an EVAP component on the 96. I can also see in the second pic that another EGR or EVAP solenoid is missing where that hole is right in fron of the mounting bolt for the MAP valve.

Looking at my old motor, I did not originally have any type of solenoid in the EGRC location. There is a mounting place for it but no metal vacuum hoses leading to that location.

Must be an I30 thing then because looking at my old motor there is no way there was ever a solenoid there. Oh well, it does not seem to be causing probems so I will leave well enough alone.
