Anyone know where I can get a vehicle speed sensor??

Hey guys, I've had the CEL code 0104 for a while now, and I'm ready to get rid of it and get my cruise control ability back, but I'm having trouble finding the part...

I've looked on eBay with no luck, I even asked NAPA if they carried it, all with no success...

Anyone know where I can get a vehicle speed sensor besides the stealership??

Awesome, thanks for the info Jepht.

Now, I looked under the car yesterday, and I couldn't find the location of the vehicle speed sensor on the car for the life of me! Does anyone know exactly where this sensor is and can give me a detailed location, or a picture perhaps??

The Vehicle Speed Sensor installed on the transaxle. The part inside the transaxle has a plastic gear which is driven by the internal parts of the transaxle. The part outside is a signal generator which produces a square wave of amplitude 5.2 volts and frequency proportional to vehicle speed.

Thanks for the info, are there any "landmarks" that I could look for that it is near? Or distinguising characteristics that the part itself has in the car?

And should I come at it from the hood or under the car, since it's on top of the tranny/transaxle? Haynes manual has a picture of it but the photo is zoomed in too close to gain any bearings as to where it might be on the car...

I don't really remember, but I think if you take off the intake you should be able to see it.

Is there anyone that knows exactly where the vehicle speed sensor is on the car?? I appreciate the attempt to help, Terran, for real, but I just don't really want to take the time to remove the whole intake manifold just on a hunch, ya know?

I've got a 5spd, if that makes a difference in where it is on the transaxle...

i have an automatic, but maybe they're still very close in location. if you know where the fuel filter is, look down into the engine bay below that and look for a white tube/sleave. that's the wire from to the speed sensor and harness. (it helps to remove the airbox to see it and have access to it)
