Your math teacher must be mistaken and think an expensive car = a fast car, because you will smoke him something nice.

One of my very good friens has a 92 Lengand coupe and the car is quick. I have a 96 5 spd max. We haven't run yet but we will soon. I have driven that car a lot. The max will kill it off the line, until about 50-60 then the legand will smoke us. I haven't ran him yet but I think that is what will happen.

Maybe the Max will beat it? But I don't think so. The 5 spd is quick as hell right off the line, in 1st gear but after that the autos. will hold there own. And I do know how to drive. I drag a boat that pulls low 9s in the 1/4 and there are a few more variables in the water than on the road.

A 5-speed Max would pull on the Max auto HEAVILY top end....in fact, just today I pulled HEAVILY on a brand new I30t from 50-80. hmmmm.......I used to own a legend, and no way is it as quick as a 5-speed maxima

Here is an article I got off of a Legend web site. Its from Motor Trend and it is from the April 94 issue. They tested it at 16.3 in the quarter mile and that was with 230 hp engine, I assume they tested with an automatic, because with the 5 or 6 speed that weree available it would be just as quick as the 5 speed Max. Now imagine if your teacher doesnt even have the 230 hp engine. http://www.verdad.org/legend/numbers...n/5/index.html

You should have no problems

If you can shift without missing any gears you can beat him no problem. A friend of mine has a 1992 legend with a weapon r intake and cat-back exhaust system. I pulled ahead at the start and had around 2 cars by 80mph. He said he had no idea how fast the maxima was. His current g-tech 0-60 time is 7.4.

i dunno ya'll...

legends a pretty fast now. i used to have a 92 auto with an intake and exhaust and it was pretty quick. i maxima will no doubt jump it off the line but my old legend would pull back on a 5sp by 40 and take it about 1 carlength at 90. i've raced my friends 5spd a few times and those results are constant. now about your teachers, he has the 230hp when i had the 200hp one. race to find out, but im sure it would be damn close.
